Puzzles in this collection should be very approachable even for solvers without experience with a particular variant or constraint. Some of the puzzles are 4x4 or 6x6 to start gaining experience with a constraint. Many (though not all) of the 9x9 puzzles are intentionally "over-clued," meaning that there are more clues than are strictly necessary to solve the puzzle. The purpose is twofold: to provide multiple next steps so you never feel completely stuck and to provide extra practice with a constraint. Puzzles are added in reverse chronological order so newer puzzles are at the top of the page. All of the puzzles on this page should be at most 1/5 in difficulty. This page includes both our puzzles and puzzles set by our students. If no author is shown, the puzzle was set by FullDeck and Missing a Few Cards
Brassicae (Brassicaceae) is the genus of plants that includes cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage. What do these vegetables do? In many people, they are known to induce gassiness, to put it politely. Puzzles in this section are easier than puzzles in the GAS section. We think of them as "pre-GAS" ... hence the name.
